What are some of the things you know I
will want to know before booking?
- The lodge is an Eco retreat and the setting can
best be described as ‘Exotic Rainforest Jungle’
(there are no manicured lawns or hedges), and the decor ‘Simple,
Relaxed, Queensland Tropical’.
- As an Eco retreat, our commitment to the environment
has lead us to use only environmentally friendly products and voluntarily
limit hours of high usage electricity and the waste of water.
- All of our guests must have the desire to improve
their health and de-tox from modern day substances and lifestyles.
- Specialised alternative health programs and therapies
are designed specifically to a guest’s requirements.
- All rooms and suites have CD players with one of
Jenny Kidnie’s stress reduction CDs to help with the relaxation
process.
- None of our accommodation has in-room telephones
or televisions.
- Most mobile phones do not work on the property and
therefore we insist that you do not use them whilst on the property.
- As many people do specific de-tox programs, we have
a ‘NO SNACKS’,
‘NO PERFUMES/DEODORANTS’, 'NO ALCOHOL' and ‘NO
SMOKING’ policy.

Q1
What service does the lodge offer?
The lodge is primarily a private residential estate
with a boutique wilderness accommodation lodge. Guests are encouraged
to revel in the solitude and privacy available. The lodge prides it’s self on the simple,
casual friendliness you would expect at a friends private retreat and
does not offer normal hotel
services such as waitered restaurant or room service.
Meals are offered in the Observation dining
area during program sessions at specified times.
The spa treatments are numerous and are based
on cleansing, rest and rejuvenating mind and body.
The typical guest does not welcome televisions,
newspapers and telephones intruding into their tranquility, so we do
not have them.
Q2
As I am looking for a break away from people, how many other guests will
be there at any one time?
The aim is to keep the numbers small and intimate,
this way you will feel like you are the only person at the Lodge. We
look
for no more than ten during any one session, however the lodge can sleep
in excess of 70 during fully booked corporate functions.
Q3
Will I be lonely?
You may feel lonely to start, as everyone goes
through withdrawals from masses of people always being around. We will
show you how to relax, be with yourself, enjoy your own company and get
the best possible results from the program you have chosen.
Q4
Will I be required to participate in an organised exercise regime?
The lodge is not an organised health resort where
people have to be pushed like sheep to achieve a predetermined target.
You will be eased through a professional, successful
program tailored to your needs as determined by the questionnaire
you will fill out long
before your arrival at the lodge.
We know that anyone booking into one of our
tailored programs has enough sense and will power to participate to the
level they want
to; to get
the results they desire.
Q5
Why should I book in to this health retreat?
Maybe you shouldn’t if you do not know the
answer to this question. Most of our specialist practitioners have a
very
strong following and recommend the lodge to their own clients.
If you know about the therapists and their almost
miraculous successes, you will not be asking this question.
If you are casting about, looking for day spa
style resort with gourmet foods or a regimented 4.30am rising and run
type resort, the Lodge
is NOT for you.
The specialised therapies used at the lodge differ dramatically
from those at almost any other center or resort.
We will calmly take you to our chief physical
aim of cleansing the body inside and out of all impurities, wastes
and toxins
that poison the body
and consequently the brain. We believe that the body has
tremendous repair capabilities if only it is given the proper opportunity
thereby
getting
you back to a point of equilibrium.
The mind’s power is also paramount in overcoming insurmountable
obstacles, which is nigh impossible whilst facing up to a continuous onslaught
of poison from the bodies organs, plus the daily challenges in familiar
surroundings at home and work. You will find that the Lodges’ therapies
calm and focus this power on healing and well being.
With both mind and body cleansed of poison and
clutter, your life will take on a whole new clarity and enable you to
achieve
the important
things
in your life that you have been looking for.
Q6
What makes this retreat different?
That is an interesting question. Given that some
of the answer lies in other answers, the rest of the answer lies in the
location of the lodge, deep in it’s own rainforest valley, just
above the ebb and flow of the tropical Coral Sea.
We will offer to take you on long guided walks in the bush and
forests and along the beaches, but just BEING with us for long enough
will be enough as long as you are prepared to partake in the programs
you have chosen.
Every moment during your stay, you will enjoy your lungs being full of
pure rainforest oxygen air, you will exercise your muscles everywhere
you walk and every step you climb, you will cleanse you body with every
fresh glass of water you drink and every pint of fluid you lose from your
body in the tropical heat and every mouthful of fresh clean healthy detoxifying
food you eat.
Bedarra Lodge is the only known health spa that specialises
in the use of specially grown and selected organic, locally grown rainforest
plants and fruits. Additionally papaya "the medicine tree" is
used widely in our treatments.
Not only is this special variety absolutely delicious
(unlike most other papaya fruit found in a supermarket), it has tremendous
curative values.
Papaya plants and fruits have long been known as the "medicine
tree".
The Australian Native aborigine used all parts of the
tree within their bag of natural remedies for thousands of years.
Most of the tree is used in our different therapies.
From cleansing juices which clean the intestines and stimulate the colon,
to the skin of the fruit which is used to in specialised facial preparations,
scrubs and peels.
The most valuable part of the plant is the leaves. They
are made into tea or juice and have been well known for their healing properties
with cancer patients
Our professional therapists and specialists are trained
to deliver the very best treatments possible within our range of therapies.
The difference is only felt after being at the lodge for several
weeks, that’s when you will start thinking of all the possibilities
that your life holds for you.
Q7
How long do your programs take?
That will depend on you. We believe that as little
as a week is much, much better than nothing as you will start to have
the opportunity to feel the difference the lodge can make to you. You
will find that two to three weeks will make an enormous difference to
your whole being. A couple of months and you’ll wonder if you are
the same person.
You can expect excellent progress by the end of the first week assuming
you are not filled to the brim with poisons. Some people have taken 20
to 40 years to get their body in a state of total toxicity, therefore
the detox job will take some time longer, maybe even years for some people-
We believe your health is your wealth.
Ask yourself the question- What is it worth to be alive and in
good health whilst increasing my longevity?
One week, two weeks, two months?????
Q8
When and how do I pay for my program and accommodation?
You will need to pay in full at least a minimum 30 days before arrival
by non-refundable credit card payment (either Visa or MasterCard preferred).
You must ensure that you have completed your health questionnaire, had
any doctors examinations and tests and advised our staff of any important
issues, booked your air transport (if you are flying) and confirmed to
Cairns, where we will pick you up for the scenic drive to Mission Beach.
Most of our specialist therapists will travel to the lodge to do your
program from interstate or overseas so that your program will be ready
for your arrival. Should your program not be available due to unforeseen
circumstances (e.g. non- arrival of therapist, inclement weather etc)
as per your booking, you can change to the next available date for the
program or do programs that are available during your booked dates.
We can not be held liable for other costs you incur due to cancellations,
such as flights, accommodation etc. should there be a cancellation and
can not stress enough the importance of ensuring your travel insurance
covers you for ALL contingencies.
Q9
Do you guarantee results?
Yes we can guarantee results to people who heart
and sole want them to work. We do not try to convert people who willfully
have a defeatist attitude.
You have a 99% chance of achieving what you wanted, if you are determined
and give yourself enough time at the Lodge.
After leaving the lodge, following the guidelines you will have been taught
will certainly go a long way to continuing the success you gained at the
Lodge. Remember going back to old ways after leaving the Lodge will not
take you along a new path!
We encourage you to continue your success by staying within our free
support and follow-up program by email.
Q10
Do you perform miracles?
Some people think that our therapists do and we
wish we could work miracles, but we can not. Unfortunately some problems
we can help with the cause, but not the cure. Some others such as incurable
diseases, we can only help with pain and tension relief.
No matter what, the results will still astound you.
Q11
What will happen; will I feel sick?
We expect you to feel a little unwell during the early stages of the de-toxification
programs and maybe even a little unpleasant. We will expect you’ll
become much more cheerful and energetic as time passes. Should you have
any pre-existing conditions (which you must tell us about) or a medical
emergency occurs there is a local doctor service and an ambulance within
5 kilometers and good hospital within 25 kilometers.
(You must have your own adequate insurance to cover such instances.)
Q12
Will I be able to get a share room to cut down my costs?
Only if you bring your partner/carer with you (please
note the additional charges). We do not encourage sharing during programs
as everyone has their personal needs and there must be no embarrassment
standing in the way of your success.
Q13
Are there any alternative therapy courses that I can study?
Some of the visiting specialist therapy consultants
run courses in their specialty, but usually as post graduate programs.
Please let us know by email if you have a particular interest.
Q14
Do you encourage newspapers, radio, television etc and is there a phone/email
I can use to make outgoing calls?
We do not encourage outside media interference
during your stay and Yes there is a pay card phone (most mobiles do not
work on the property, so leave them at home as they must never be used
in whilst you are at the Lodge).
We can not stress enough the fact that keeping in touch with the outside
world will in no way help you to de-stress and relax. We do not encourage
daily newspapers or do we provide them, nor encourage going outside the
property other than walks.
If you must have constant phone contact, you should not attend a program
at the Lodge until you are fully ready to accept these conditions.
Should you absolutely need to access your email, you may bring your
own laptop and access the net via our 1800 pay phone booth.
Q15
Do you ban smoking and alcohol at the Lodge?
As many people come to us with problems with substance
abuse and desire to quit smoking, we would be in dereliction of our duty
to allow the consumption
of these substances on the property.
However, some fine wines will be available to
guests with the last evening meal depending on the therapy and the
stage of their treatment.
Q16
Can I expect to self cater and do rooms have cooking facilities?
The lodge prides itself on simple, pure, fresh and in season locally
grown organic produce. Our “Observation Grill’ is not a restaurant,
more of a large open bar and grill where everyone eats together, get
to meet
and chat
and exchange experiences of their own programs.
You can expect simply prepared whole foods and juices. Your first meals
will be preparation for your programmed cleansing treatments.
At the finish of your program cooked meals, broths and juices will be
available to bring your digestive system back on line for your return
home.
Examples of the types of meals include:
- Fit for Life
- Dr Sandra Cabot’s Liver Cleansing
- Fruit and Vegetable Juice Cleansing
- Juice Fasting

Q- What sort of things should I expect to do during my stay?
Lots of walking on magnificent beaches, bush and
lush rainforest tracks where you will see very few people to interfere
with you reverie; participating in your chosen program and sleep and more
wonderful sleep.
Reading those books you meant to get to, or some that you will find in
the library. Being with oneself, thinking and talking through issues,
learning how to sleep as much as you want without being disturbed, resting
by the pool or on our deserted beach in a nice shady spot in the tropical
heat.
Partaking in the therapies recommended to you
in our medi-spa facility.
